I've written the genre selection for artists.

To choose genres, go to your artist profile page and click on the 'artist control panel' link. On the menu, click on the 'choose genres' link. Click on the 'add genre' button to choose a genre.

To select your profile image, upload the image and then go to the file page for that image. A 'file options' box will be displayed containing a link to 'edit file.' On the file edit page, there will be a check box to choose the image for your profile. Check this box and click the 'save changes' button to choose the picture for your profile.

There have also been some other changes, including some to the template engine. Please report any pages that either don't display or aren't properly formatted.

A notice to IE users has been added. Any comments?
This is great!

Did I already compliment you on your great work? If not:

My deepest respects!

Thanks!
What I miss is the option of choosing my own genre.

What I'm producing is mostly folk-music, but only mostly (just like in "mostly harmless" Smile ). I would call it:

Filk
LARP-Ballads
Political Songs
Parody

And much more, but mainly Filk.

And I think I know some people who might join up here, if they can name their songs as Filk Smile

What's filk?
Hard to describe, but mainly music themed in fantasy and science fiction and often an irish-folk like sound, but far from always.

In english: http://lordlandless.de/en/filk.htm
In german 1: http://lordlandless.de/filk.htm
In german 2: http://filk.info/wasfilk/index.php

(and some filk can be found at my website: http://draketo.de )

But if you don't add Filk, please add at least folk...
Would you say Filk and Folk are seperate or could Filk be put as a sub-genre of Folk?

I'll get on it.

Edit: I'd never heard of filk before. There's something I've learnt through this project. Thank you Smile.

How should I classify the other genres you suggested? Simply put under folk? Or filk?

I'll put them under folk for now. They can always be moved without too many noticable consequences.

Edit II: The genres you listed are available under 'folk.'
I think Filk sits quite well there as sub-genre of folk, because it is partly exactly what folk-music is, but for the science Fiction and Fantasy fans (and some others Smile )

Thanks a lot!

As for other genres: There are very many genres out thre, so I'd put a link to this thread into the Genres Pop-Up, asking people to come here to request more genres.

On the long run (when bandnet.org becomes more and more popular) it might be more feasible to handle addition of new genres automatically by allowing people to create third-level genres (the first two levels only by request, anything else self-defined, if they want it).

Best wishes,
Arne
