I'm wondering, is phpBB adequate or should I try to change the forum software to something with a few more features?

I had a look at myBB. It seems to have a lot of features but could be of quite a lot of use, especially on the admin side. However, I'm not sure if their license allows the kind of integration that I'd need to do.

When I've had a look at IPB in the past I haven't liked it. Sorry. I'd still consider it, though.

vBulletin costs money. If anyone wants to buy me a license I'd be happy to switch...

Any others?
phpBB is fine by me
woooosh!!! (thats was the sound of all that going over my head!!!)
basically he wants to know what kind of "network" the forum should be on. each one has slightly different features. higgy was asking if anyone had any preferences.

The current forum is powered by phpBB. Y'seen other forums, right?

Look on http://forums.shareaza.com

Those forums are powered by vBulletin (which costs money). MyBB is based on that, I think. It has more features and does a load of other stuff. However, to integrate it would be a bit of a job.

I had a go at splitting forum functions from the main site so I can change the software easily.

Actually, I'm not sure if the license for MyBB allows me to do what I'd need to do.

You can see an example of MyBB at http://community.mybboard.net/
